A very fine hotel
If you are looking for a hotel where the only screaming you’ll hear is from your husband trying to figure out the hotel’s coffee machine, Pickalbatros Blu Spa Resort is the place to be. As an adults-only resort (16+), we booked this specifically to escape children—including our own mental image of responsibilities—and it delivered big time. Here is our honest, slightly sarcastic, but deeply loving review of our stay. We also want to give a huge shoutout to Sheriff Egypt for organizing our excursions! Their prices are noticeably lower than what the hotel guides try to charge. We booked private tours to Cairo and Luxor with them, and it was an incredible experience. We rode in a brand-new, super-comfortable 2026 model minivan, and their guides spoke fluent, excellent English, sharing tons of fascinating history. If you want to explore outside the resort without any hassle, definitely book with them! 🛏️ The Room & Vibe. We booked a sea-view room, and let me tell you, the view did not disappoint. Waking up to the Red Sea every morning almost made up for the fact that my husband spent the first two days trying to lock our balcony door from the outside. The design is sleek, modern, and very "Instagram." Everything is pristine, which is both a blessing and a curse: I spent half my vacation feeling like a messy toddler walking through a modern art museum. The bed was so comfortable that we seriously considered adopting housekeeping just to have someone make it that way when we got home. 🍽️ Food & Drinks (The Danger Zone). All-inclusive resorts are a trap for your waistline, and Blu Spa is a masterclass in delicious sabotage. The Restaurants: We tried a few of the à la carte options, but the main buffet was our spiritual home. There is something profoundly humbling about watching your husband load his plate like he is preparing for a three-week nuclear winter, only to complain five minutes later that he is "too full to function." The Bars: The bartenders are absolute magicians. I asked for a custom cocktail with a fancy name, and the guy just smiled, poured three mysterious neon liquids together, and handed me a drink that tasted like vacation and bad decisions. Five stars. ☀️ Pools, Beach & Spa. The Pools: The infinity pool is stunning. It’s the kind of place where you lounge on a sunbed, pretend to read a sophisticated book, but actually just judge people's swimwear choices. (Spoiler: Some choices were... bold.) The Spa: Since it’s a "Spa Resort," we felt legally obligated to get massages. My husband walked in carrying the accumulated stress of a year of corporate emails and walked out looking like a melted marshmallow. Worth every penny. 🌊 The Red Sea. The beach is lovely, and the water is crystal clear. However, if you are planning to snorkel, be prepared to feel severely out-swum by fish that have better athletic endurance than you do. Also, a quick tip for the men: sunscreen is not optional in Hurghada unless you want to look like a boiled lobster by dinner time. I had to chase my husband around the pool deck like a frantic zookeeper with a bottle of SPF 50. ✨ The Verdict. Service was top-notch—everyone is ridiculously polite, helpful, and seemingly immune to the Egyptian heat. Would we come back? 100% yes. It’s clean, luxurious, adults-only (did I mention no screaming kids?), and the food is dangerously good. Just make sure to pack extra patience for your partner's holiday habits. Highly recommended!
