My husband and I just spent a week at Sunny Days El Palacio Resort in Hurghada, and overall, we had a fantastic and relaxing vacation. We were looking for a mix of beach relaxation and good snorkeling, and this resort delivered on the best parts, though there are a few things future guests should keep in mind. Location & First Impressions. The hotel is located right in El Memsha / downtown Hurghada, which made getting around very convenient. When we arrived at the lobby, check-in was relatively smooth. The architecture of the hotel is quite unique—it’s built in a horseshoe shape extending out into the Red Sea, meaning every single room has a sea view, which was a huge bonus for us. Waking up to the sunrise over the water from our balcony every morning was magical. Room & Cleanliness. We stayed in a standard room in the main building. It was spacious, bright, and equipped with air conditioning that actually worked quietly (a lifesaver in the afternoon heat!). The housekeeping staff was very friendly, leaving us fun towel art animals on the bed every couple of days. Everything was clean, though you can tell the furniture is a bit dated and could use a minor refresh. The bathroom was fine, with reliable hot water and good water pressure in the shower. Beach, Sea & Pools. This is hands down the best feature of the resort. Because the hotel sits on two private lagoons protected from the open sea waves, the water is crystal clear, calm, and warm. Snorkeling: You don’t even need to go on a boat trip to see amazing marine life. We brought our own masks and spent hours swimming right off the breakwater. We saw vibrant coral patches, colorful reef fish, and even a couple of rays near the rocks! Pools: There are large pool areas with plenty of sun loungers, though you do need to head down relatively early after breakfast to secure spots right by the main pool with a good view. Food & Drinks. The main buffet restaurant offered a wide variety of dishes for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Highlights: We loved the fresh Egyptian pastries at breakfast, the live-cooking grill stations in the evening (the grilled kofta and chicken were delicious), and the salad bar. The Rest: Some of the European dishes could get a bit repetitive by day four, and the queues at peak dining hours could get crowded. We also booked one visit to the Italian à la carte restaurant, which was a nice change of pace and felt much quieter than the main buffet. Drinks: The local cocktails at the beach bars were refreshing, but like many all-inclusive resorts in Egypt, bringing your own insulated tumblers for drinks is a great pro-tip to keep things cold longer. Service & Entertainment . The staff throughout the resort were exceptionally warm and polite. Our waiters at the terrace bar always remembered our drink preferences, and the animation team worked hard all day organizing aqua aerobics, beach volleyball, and evening shows in the amphitheater. Sunny Days El Palacio offers incredible value for money. If you are looking for five-star luxury with ultra-modern minimalist design, this might not be your spot. But if you want a vibrant atmosphere, a stunning double-lagoon beach with world-class snorkeling right at your doorstep, and friendly service, it’s a wonderful place for a couple's getaway. My husband and I would definitely consider coming back!
